Unit Summary
Students will relate local modern day migration to the experiences of the Pioneer westward movement. Students will make the connection that today's citizens, like Pioneers, desire more land, better homes, and better living conditions. Students will complete learning strategies to assist with developing student opinions, vocabulary comprehension, and framing the text. Concept maps, split-page note-taking, and read-alouds are learning strategies that will be used.

Test review will come in the form of the "jeopardy" game.
"Vokis" will be used for daily introductions.
Students will use "microsoft word" to create vocabulary cards and to record notes.
"Sam7" will be used to update and record student progress.
"Power Point" will be used to deliver information for note-taking.
